Naughty Student Bloggers

30 Sep

I’ve been out of touch with “blogosphere” (this word always looks like BLOBosphere” to me), playing the good student and preparing for my midterms for once. Despite not having anything to say on the recent “students who flamed teachers got into trouble” issue, other than “I’m so tired of BIRLC(Blogging Induced Real Life Consequences)”, my interest was aroused when I found out from the “grapevine”:http://www.mrbrown.com/blog/2005/09/bloggers_are_al.html#comments that the students suspended were from my alma mater.

The same school that “Popagandhi”:http://www.popagandhi.com/ and “Sarong Party Girl”:http://sarongpartygirl.blogspot.com/ passed through (relatively unscathed?).

When I found out it was my alma mater was in question

    mrs ram… roll eyes
  • tipoff
ST struck again! Bloggers are being persecuted!
  • Only knew abt this when I got back frm 1 mth stay in Thailand…

As usual… But why not the big P?

    I’m still wondering why…
  • current saint
apparently, mrs ram is the most gossipy and blog hunting one of the whole lot.
  • haha. i agee with C. You don’t really need to give Ms K a reason to hunt you down, torture you till the end of days, then release you half-alive into purgatory.

but i still love and miss her. one helluva teacher she is. =)
  • She can’t do anything to you now, can she? :D
  • She’s magnificent. I’m in love with her. I hope she doesn’t see this. Ha.
  • c
    haha! miss K is…indescribable. (:

As a student myself, i feel that the students should not bitch about their teachers online. Afterall, your blog is a public place. Just as you wouldnt stand on some random soapbox in real life to criticise someone (especially if its a unjustifiable comment or one which cant be backed up), the same rules should apply. Besides, i believe that people definitely must be responsible for what they say. Hence i believe that the whole Sedition act affair against the rascist bloggers was justified. About the students though, hmms. Depends on what they said about the teachers. The punishment must befit the “crime”. Just my 2 cents.
  • #6 – nope, said principal is now principal of the affiliated secondary school, i think.

C: I know. I have one of the most vivid memories – in recent history – of that, but we’ve made peace. Hehehe.

One does not have to say anything about Miss K for her to hunt you down. One need merely possess a face she decides to taking particular exception to. shudders in memory I didn’t realize the Sarong Party Girl was from That Place too.
  • Johnny, I think so too. Some writer from st life wrote about fearing his kids reading blogs, saying that blogs are worse than porn. rolleyes

more money for the lawyers, eh?

    never a bad thing ;)

isn’t the principal the one with the lovely brit accent? she seemed so congenial to the rest of the non-JC world…
  • Bitch about people bitching about the fucked up state the blogosphere is in? I’m starting to think the mainstream media is beginning to feel threatened.
  • Don’t bitch this, don’t bitch that. Then what can we bitch at?
  • honestly ah, you really can’t blame them. students live in a very limited/constrained milieu filled with unnecessary but nothing-we-can-do-about-it crap that outweighs the good stuff, ie emotional instability, money(usually unjustifiable to everyone but themselves), relationship strains, etc.. blogging about bumps along the way ie that bitch teacher who embarrassed you in the presence of your fellow mates in the corridor is probably the best vent for miles. things are getting pretty frustrating now that society’s got this new sense of sensitivity over blogs. sigh.
  • Hah. I do it already.

    ..the bitching. Not the suing.
  • tipoff
Then your classmates will threaten to sue you… ;)
