Thinking About Death

I’m not usually a morbid person. I hardly think about death, if at all. Or suicide. But there is something about being an undergraduate that makes you think about it all the time. If not from the stress (and no, stress never gets to me) - then from the profound idiocy we see around us.
Death By Bad Presentations - who are these students, how did they get to university, and how did they manage to get to second/third year? Where did they get their weird ideas about politics from? How can profound ignorance exist even at this level - no, how can profound ignorance thrive and be rewarded?
Death by Heart Palpitation - if you use a 15″ PowerBook and don’t know how to connect it to a projector, don’t know how to use Keynote, there’s someone in class who willl rush to the front (cough), but will cringe and feel like peeing everytime I see you abusing it.
Death by Italian Accents - Well you know, I love ‘em for the pasta, the pizza, the espresso. They’re great to talk to. But hearing it for three hours, and then after class, makes my head spin. Itsa allsa aboutsa da bombsa, Right-a? You bombsa a country to make it democratica!
Five days a week in an academic environment brings out my misanthropic side. Clearly, I am not used to the idea of going to school. It is bad for my health.

god i hate people who are bad with computers. i hate those who own macs many, many times more.

note: not all are tech savy ya know? granted, pple should learn but for ‘slower’ pple (like moi) it’s on a need to know basis!
politics – dudette- most pple are apathetic to this.. especially in a country where there is barely any competition
ignorance – try reading “How I became stupid” – by Martin Page – orinigally en Francais – quirky and amusing.
italiano – you’re on a campus where cafes are abundant and coffee culture is predominant – how?!
school isn’t bad… maybe just the students… hey – be glad you’re not in the one way out west… (tongue in cheek)

yes bel but the coffee is terrible. the only coffee i can drink is the kopi ping.
=) granted most people are apathetic to politics.. but students in a politics class??

haha…i agree with HellsBel. not all are tech savy. i wouldnt say i know nothin about lappies and all. personally, i think that if one tinkers around, one will know and learn eventually? it’s all about exploration.

HellsBel/cher – It’s not about being tech savvy. If you’re “smart” enough to switch to a mac, you should be competent enough to do the abovementioned. If not, all it means is that you just bought it ‘cos it’s pretty.
Anyway, in this day and age, how can you really afford not to be vaguely competent in computer-use?!
School’s definitely bad for health.

en: yes i barely bother with the kopitiam in the concourse (slowest drinks stall queue in the world)… since the kopitiam across the road from SESS is so much closer to me and.. a little bit better (though not much). other than that the closest place for a tolerable caffeine fix is 7-eleven on bencoolen street. for some reason their $1.90 pumpkin latte and dark mountain roast is… not too bad. =)

indian worker is in noida, uttar pradesh, near dehli. was in mumbai. yes, i think the word gandhi is good. at least i can read 1 blog during my working hours. i hope they don’t find out and ban it. can’t wait to go back to smu and open my machine intellect gun on first yr student’s brain.

cool shit. are you visiting any hill stations. i really want to go to the hills in/around himachal pradesh – trekking in shimla, kullu valley, etc. or leh. actually i’d just be happy with dalhousie or darjeeling.. anywhere, as long as it’s india!!

Another vote for “school is bad for health”.
I make teachers angry and they threaten to take years off my lifespan. At least in working life I can “walk away” (and take the consquences). There is no choice of “opting out” of the Singapore education system.
