The Miele Guide: Voting Begins

Some of you know I’ve spent the last couple of months working as a web consultant on the Miele Guide.
The most important phase of the site was launched a few minutes ago, the one that marks the start of online voting. It’s as much my baby as it is that of the amazing designer/developer team I hired. (Sorry for the sleep deprivation over the last week, we’ll make up for it with plenty of beer — and of course, food.)
Here’s how it works, in a nutshell: every voter gets 10 votes. If you live in any of the 16 Asian countries being surveyed, a maximum of 3 votes can be cast for restaurants in your country.
I strongly urge you to register to vote to play a part in making sure Asia’s best restaurants (according to you) make it into the book. If that’s not good enough for you, every successful submission of votes stands a chance of winning an all-expenses paid meal for two at the top-ranked restaurants in either Singapore, Hong Kong or Tokyo, plus two nights’ stay at a luxury hotel. You pick the city, at the point of voting (and if you don’t, forgo your lucky draw chances). Voting also lets you pre-order the book at a 25% discount. I sincerely believe Asia needs her own restaurant guide.
A big pat on the back for everyone who was involved in this. I worked with, and continue to work (part time) with an ambitious, talented and hardworking team, including the boss, the baker, and the associate publisher (i.e. slave-driver). And the people responsible for building this site, too: Aen, who worked his CSS and sIFR magick with a great eye for design, and Uzyn’s outstanding programming and AJAX (wouldn’t expect any less from the guy).
Pardon me for saying so, but this site is so beautiful and works so well (check out the shop) I think I could lick it. Please vote now, and also join our Facebook group.
Time for me to catch some sleep, I think.

Some screenshots after the jump…
Just some screenshots showcasing the voting system. Am very proud of it, as you can see. (My “votes” are dummy votes, I’m not eligible to vote — even if I love most of the following restaurants!)

Is that the book cut out from its background or a different photo?

Different photo, just received it. I’ll send it to you now :)
