Warning! As If!

Kotex Campaign Along Orchard Road, Singapore

To raise awareness about its New Improved Kotex Soft and Smooth Ultrathin Pads, Kotex had a red booth outside Orchard Cineleisure this weekend, with the words: You May Not Remember That You Are Having Your Period. Wonderful copywriting.

Not knowing whose campaign this was, it made me double-take and think: Am I really? I don’t remember.

A number of young men dressed in red shirts (and white pants — they’re really going all out with the menstruation idea) were handing out free samples of the new and improved product in little red envelopes that said: Warning! You may not remember that you are having your period!

That takes a certain… corporate conviction, and absolute faith in your product, to make such a statement. I’ll be sure to test that claim — don’t worry, I won’t blog about the results.

And that’ll be the last time I devote an entire post to periods, tampons or pads. I figured it was just one of those things you had to talk about at least once, other than your cat (I don’t have one) or what you ate for lunch (I eat too many of them).
