It Was All Yellow
As a Chinese person in a predominantly Chinese country with mostly non-Chinese friends, I was always happy to partake of a good “yellow” joke (w.r.t. the skin colour of my race). I have absolutely no qualms referring to myself and my brethren as “munjen” (after the Tamil word for ‘yellow’), and almost fell laughing into the train tracks when I heard someone say the Tamil version of the “please stand behind the yellow line” announcement should mean “please push the yellow person talking loudly into the tracks”. My ex—who happens to be Bengali—had an unshakable belief that Coldplay’s “Yellow” had to do with us Chinese people. It was all yellow…
Imagine my delight, then, to find this. Starring someone I know too!
Enjoy!
