Rath Yatra
August 1st, 2007 | Published in dispatch | 4 Comments
If you thought Little India on a Sunday was crowded, think again. Two weeks ago, in Puri (Orissa), a million people gathered in the small town for the spectacular Rath Yatra. Both pictures from the Nokia N95.
Just a small section of the crowd
Rooftop “seats” are sold for a hefty price. If you are cheap like me, you can wait for the Japanese tourists come, insert yourself in their group (you have to be yellow of course) and sneak upstairs for free.
I’d love to give you an in-depth profile into the festival and what happens there… but you’ll have to buy it off the shelves two-three months from now.

it’s an enormous crowd there.
i liked the part where you wrote that to get the view from the rooftop, one can squeeze in between japanese tourists to save money. i’m afraid i’m not yellow at all. too bad. hahaha.
