Hi, and hope you’re having a good new year.

In reply to your previous post, about why all CNY songs are about money: not all are. The old chestnuts I know are different: one, sung by a woman, is about having travelled the earth before returning to her family, and it’s really beautiful, too (I think it begins with “èµ°éÂÂäºâ Ã¤Â¸â¡Ã¦Â°Â´”) ; another is about love–(girl)ä¸â¬Ã¥Â¹Â´Ã¦Åâ¬Ã¥Â¥Â½Ã¦Ë¯æ˥季, 为ä»â¬Ã¤Â¹Ë今年æâºÂ´Ã§âÅèÅÅ?(guy)花è¿Ëæ˯ä¸â¬Ã¦Â Â·Ã¥Å° å¼â¬Ã¥âŸï¼Šé¸Ÿè¿Ëæ˯éâ£æ ·åŰåâ¢Â¼ (together) 为ä»â¬Ã¤Â¹Ë今年æâºÂ´Ã§âÅèÅÅ? Ã¥âºÂ Ã¤Â¸ÂºÃ¦Ëâ身边æÅâ°Ã§Ââ¬Ã¤Â¸â¬Ã¤Â¸ÂªÃ¤Â½Â Ã£â¬â I think there are others too, but I can’t sing them offhand. (”æ˥天å˰æÂ¥çâ¢Â¾Ã¨Å Â±Ã¥Â¼â¬” doesn’t sound like a money song…another about chun1 lian2, and another from the eighties sung in a slightly nasal soprano…old songs…)

But it’s true that there IS a lot of emphasis on 4D and the God of Prosperity. :)

Anyway, have a good Lunar New Year! :D
