Which means just a few things: Valentine’s Day is over, the Chinese New Year break is coming up, Week 8 is coming (my one week uni break), and I have a boatload of writing to finish this week (not even counting school work yet), so posting here might be scarce.

I don’t appreciate flowers, and I hate how V Day means all the chocolates I want to eat disappear and the restaurants I want to eat at are impossible to get in to. But maybe I’m just bitter, since nobody asked me out (OK, I’d already ‘celebrated’ the night before with the only person I would’ve spent it with). I was going to have a pseudo-date-to-be/drinking buddy, but I think he fell asleep after cooking up a storm for other lovebirds (18 course degustation!). I went mop/mat/toilet paper-shopping at Sheng Shiong, had an amazing biryani at Sakunthala’s (thanks Rohan!), found a nice pint of Hoegaarden at the Prince of Wales, and went home to mop my floor. It’s amazing how two months of hostel life transforms a person who’s never done a day’s housework, never even washed her cup, into a mop-obsessed clean freak.

Yet somehow, waking up with you on Valentine’s Day was enough for me, as it has been for the last two years. No amount of flowers, chocolates or nice dinners can do the same thing; I’m a romantic at heart so I’d prefer to do all those everyday, instead of once a year.

P.S. What I really want to know: why is it that every single Chinese New Year song is about money? I just heard one that went “qian ah qian ah qian ah qian ah qian ah qian ah qian” (translated: “money, money, money, money, money, money, money ah..”, set to a tune)… for thirty minutes.
