On to better things in life

Looks like the last post really struck a chord, but that’ll be the last time I talk about the school (and my place within the education system). I’d told myself from the first year that I was going to try to be positive about it; tried very hard I did. I still think I ought to have “gotten out while I could” and I’m still going to kick myself for not doing so. While I’ve mostly succeeded for the most part in ignoring it — why do you think I travel so much? to get out! — it was a certain series of events which really drove home the point that this was all a mistake (I suppose such open declaration means I’ll be quietly fired as the school “Advocate”, hah).

Anyway, thanks for the outpouring of empathy, and support. The next time I post about it will be when I get out, and can be completely and openly honest, with the benefit of hindsight too. I’m pleased to report that in other news that’ve contributed to the Not Sucky At All Index This Week, things can’t get any better, my place within this solar system shines ever bright in South Asia (and west of it); from a professional PoV I may just be “all set”. I don’t think I’m necessarily extra bold or talented, just perhaps still dreamy enough to believe that I can do anything I want, and definitely blessed. You’ll know, in due time, when I’m ready.

And when all of this is over, and my time in this dreadful country is over, I will hold you by the hand as we walk down Marine Drive, since I forgot to the last time, watching the sun set over Malabar Hill, since we forgot to the last time. Remembering the little prayer I’d said as the twenty year old who’d come to the Big City with a dream and a bagful of charms, losing myself in Churchgate when I’m finally, finally home.
