If the blue blinking disco light in sleep mode annoys you, go to Tools -> Phone -> Display -> Sleep mode (off).

Do a “phone software update”:http://www.nokia.com.sg/nokia/0,,97402,00.html.

Most importantly, if you’re experiencing slowness in sending SMSes, download the “SMS Accelerator”:http://www.nokia.com.sg/nokia/0,,95907,00.html from Nokia. If you use a Mac you can just download and bluetooth directly to your phone without using the cable or PC Suite. After installing in the phone, it might experience slowness for several minutes, but SMS performance improves visibly after.

    swissfondue: that's not excuse. i have -5.25 and -5.50. my brother had -10.50! we both got out with 100% vision. i was given at 97% chance for 100% vision (my brother was given very little, 4 years ago by the same doctor but he chose to push through with a wavefront lasik surgery, and did ok), with the other 3% being that you might be under or over corrected. my doctor assured that in this scenario he would 'touch up' in an extra surgery until we got it.

    colin: my phone's crashing was mostly due to the sms, when sending out one sms would like 3 minutes and i couldn't use the phone until it was done. the sms accelerator changed everything and phone works flawlessly for now.

    All the best for your LASIK surgery. I've been think about it, but have chickened out so far (partly because I have at least -5.75 and the probability of obtaining 100% vision is unlikely).

    Anonther reason is that I'm saving for the iPhone :)
  • OMG! Life saviour. I hate the annoying blue light. Thanks for the tip. Though I'm beginning to hate the phone in general - frequent crashes, hangs, and so on. It does the job of a camera well, but fails in its basic task of being a device to make and receive phone calls.

    All the best for the surgery, tell us how it goes. Its something that even I've considered... but not done.

  • Don't be scared. You won't feel a thing. It's just the concept that makes one feel a bit nervous. They give me a valium before surgery here in Oz. And anaesthetic eyedrops for half an hour prior to surgery. I just kept thinking of all the elderly people who have had it done and thinking.. 'If they can do it I can too'.
