Strange World

December 12th, 2006  |  Published in soundbites, travel  |  3 Comments

So I’m on the phone with the American dude from Kansas who somehow got stuck in Koh Phi Phi and now helps to run the beach shack I’ll be staying in.

Me: “Can you give me directions on where to go after I get off the boat?” Ben: “Walk straight down the pier, look for the skeleton of the 7-Eleven that was destroyed in the tsunami, I’ll be waiting for you by the sign that says “Tsunami Warning”.

We’re arriving on the second anniversary of that terrible disaster. And boy, is Ben really stoned or what?

hey - that sounds like the Ben I know! Stayed in Ko Phi Phi in Jan 06 on the very very quiet side of the island - totally isolated, took me 45 min - 1hr to walk into town. If it is INDEED the same “resort”, ask him about the only belly dancer who ever performed there! heh. :P
