Check Your Battery Status
Coconut Battery is an app that gives you in depth information regarding the status of your portable Mac’s battery. I ran it and it gave me -
First read about here - 4096 mAH out of 4400, after 332 battery load cycles and 14 months, is not too shabby at all.
Always calibrate, calibrate, calibrate.
Tamagotchi When You Hit F12
“Tigergotchi is a virtual dashboard tiger, which is in need for some water, food and love. When you provide your tiger with enough of those ingredients, he will be happy and last a long time on your dashboard. The image of the tiger will change with his degree of hapiness: waving his tail and blinking his eyes when he is happy, but when hungry or thirsty his ribs will show up and he will start putting his tongue out.”
It can’t be in your pocket, but you can hit F12. Get Tigergotchi here. Mine kept dying at 0hrs 0min.
Somatic FM
The one dashboard app I keep using: Somatic. As some of you must know, Soma.FM is an excellent underground/alternative internet radio station; free of commercials, and completely listener supported. “Indie Pop Rocks” and “Groove Salad” get a big thumbs up from me. The Somatic widget puts the play list and station controls on your dashboard.

since you’re talking about this, this might be a good opportunity to ask: how do I press the F12?

Zhiyang: woops, ibook no F12 right. Assign any key you want to in Dashboard prefs.

hello, just checking in with my results. my battery is about as old as yours (14mths), but in far worse condition (76%). i can think of 2 reasons: 1) ibooks suck compared to powerbooks. PBs run off AC when fully charged, whereas IBs run off battery till 95%, then charge up to 100%, whereupon they drain down to 95% again. the result is that the battery gets worked out, but not fully as they do when going through a so-called calibration. 2) my ibook hardly left my desk all year.
F12 on ibooks is activated by pressing the F12 key along with the Function key.
