Maybe They Use Cold Wax
What if you go for a Budget Brazilian Waxing and they run out of wax?
Or bring your own wax. Or they could learn lessons from some of our budget airlines — must go special budget room to wax (i.e. toilet), no frills service (i.e. you wax yourself), and if you want a towel or water you must pay extra.
Spotted on the street with the highest density of hair-removal services (Buffalo Road — facial threading, anyone?), on the second level of the shophouses. The first level has the highest density of vegetables from India, all the better to go grocery shopping for after tending to your follicular needs, I guess. Up the road at “Chello’s: The place for vegetarians”, the swanky refurbished place (which used to be Dosai Corner) is guilty of daylight robbery. $5.20 for 1 tiny piece of kaju katli, one tiny piece of gulab jamun, one tiny piece of mysore pak and the world’s worst masala tea. That’s 150 rupees. You know what 150 rupees can buy me? (1) 150 cups of tea or (2) 1 clean single room in Sudder Street + breakfast + lunch. Once you eat dosai at Mavalli Tiffin Room (Bangalore), you can’t eat South Indian food in Singapore anymore. Once you eat sweets from KC Das or Girish and Nakur (Kolkata), the sweets here seem pathetic. Pathetic, factory-manufactured Indian sweets. /cranky
