Goodbye Miss Heng

Much has changed in the five years since I left that particular school: I haven’t been back a single time, I don’t fit into that famous uniform anymore, and while my time in that institution weren’t exactly the happiest days of my life — Miss Rosalind Heng was, without a doubt, a mother to all of us who passed under her wings, in all those three decades as principal. I became unnervingly close to her on a number of occasions towards the end of my education, owing to a couple of fiascos I so famously found myself in, but she was always the voice of reason, impartiality and of nurture. Here’s happy retirement to an accomplished woman who dedicated her life to a great institution, yet was never too jaded to believe stupid 16 year olds (like me) could somehow morph into the kim geks we were supposed to be.

Thank you for this inspiring tribute to your teacher, Adri. She certainly looks wonderful! And I’m very glad you have linked to all of the other nice photos of the run in Miss Heng’s honor. Very lovely pictures to brighten a rainy November day in Seattle!
