SMU Firsts

Tomorrow (22 Aug ‘05) is officially the first day of the school year, and what makes this different from every other day is that it will also be the first day on the new campus.
To commemorate, I am starting a little Flickr exercise, with the theme “SMU Firsts” - first day, first week, first class, first libary visit, first time you tap your new smart card, first time you played hookey by sneaking to (insert preference of malls and cafes here), etc - it’s up to you.
Upload to Flickr, and tag with “smu”, “citycampus”, and most importantly, “smufirsts”. And if you’re truly hardworking, join the SMU Flickr group, and contribute it to the group pool.
This is open to everybody, whether you’re a student or not. If you’re a member of the public, it could be your first glance at the building, or first encounter with a bratty undergraduate. Shoot whatever, with whatever - phone cam, digicam, SLR.
I’m chope-ing the “first time I bled my eyes out because of the fugly SESS building and then walked to Business and bled some more”. (But then I did that last week, and the week before, but I’ll just bleed again at having to be there everyday.)
P.S. There are still many readers who don’t know the site is back; so it would help if you could spread the message on your blogs.

Weird. Is the content on this site not displaying in IE? I was using IE at my work place hours ago and it only showed the Flickr stream. Now I’m reading in Firefox and it’s fine.

Aiya, my first SMU moments are all over—- first moment figuring out how visitors enter the building when there are those security turnstiles all over the place, first moment searching for the toilet in the Lee Kong Chian School of Business, first moment investigating the sensitivity of the automatic glass door sensors, first moment spotting students studying hard in their little study rooms, first moment realising that certain rooms have M1 reception but not SingTel reception…

…first time coming to school without my student pass, first time pleading with grouchy security folk, first time squeezing past the security barriers behind a friend, first time enduring that freakin’ annoying blast of an alarm, first time overloading the see-thru elevator, first time getting lost on campus, second time getting lost on campus, third…
hmm, fourth time can or not?

Can’t seem to pick up the feedburner feed … guess it hasn’t sorted itself out yet.
Also “www.flickr.com” runs into “GLBT Links” in Safari & OmniWeb. Looks quite good though.

Sorry, still no joy on the feed here. Are you able to pick it up in a feed reader or is it just me? (I doubt it as I’ve poked at it from Firefox/Safari/OmniWeb/NetNewsWire Lite). Any thoughts on using a Textpattern plugin to generate the feeds instead – if such a creature exists?

James, what about now? I just changed it to offer RSS instead of Atom in feedburner. It seems to work in browsers, and in my newsreader, right now. Textpattern generates RSS and/or Atom feeds by default, but I just need feedburner for stats-harvesting.

Hi, feedburner is playing nice with me now. Hurrah! I’m so addicted to RSS at the moment …
