Favourite L Word Girls

It is always important to share the list of people you find attractive and/or hot. This information has normalizing and leveraging effects for taste and perception, i.e. if you find a trashbag attractive, your future opinion is less likely to hold much sway. So without much ado, I present to you, my favourite L Word girls, listed in order, ceteris paribus:

- Dana
- Carmen
- Shane
- Tina
- Lara
- Alice
Do we rate Ton Ton and Helena or do we leave them out? In any case they’re at the bottom of that heap. No it doesn’t count if you have never watched it before and Google them in order to rate them - we’re lesbian, so personality and which exes they’ve had before, counts for a lot. Rate yours!
I usually use this as a straw pool to gauge a person’s taste (sorry, girls only - the boys opinion on this matter doesn’t quite count). There’s just so much you can tell from that: for example, seeing that Shane is number 3 on my list, though she would be first on many others’, just says one thing - andro is good, but andro is not my thing. Bette being in first position: older women, powerful women, are nice. Dana, that athleticism is a virtue. Actually I want them all. And if you’re complaining the show doesn’t really reflect the real life situation on the ground? Well, I’m sorry, no butch means no butch lah.
I was in a bar with a couple of friends the other night, watching the Fantastic Fourplay. This bugger invited himself to the table, making much pointless conversation with the other girls. “You have X Factor,” he assured one of them. “You got class,” said he to the other.
Turning to me, he said: “Hey check out that girl in white. She’s hot, right?”
Me: “I think have better taste.”
Sadly, that seemed to be his usual self in sobriety.

actually the show does reflect the real life situation in western countries, but not singapore’s. asian countries i.e singapore and hong kong are the most common ones with the typical butch-femme relationships.

Tina, Alice and Lara don’t even register on my radar coz they are blonds and redheads respectively. Robin is really sexy if I can imagine she has dark hair.
Interesting though, that EVERYONE left out Jenny. Haha… bad enough everyone hates her character, but people think she is ugly too? Poor Mia Kirschner. Her look was bad enough in season 1, and absolutely sucked in season 2.
I have to say here, though, Meredith Mcgeachy (Tonya) can be sexy, if you can forget abt her on-screen persona. I do admire her talent in playing Ton-Ton off so well.
Many lesbians have beaten me over the head for saying how I feel about butches…. but here it is anyway. I am personally happy that the L Word doesn’t have any butch characters. I don’t have to look at them on screen as well, when I am sick of seeing them everywhere else. Sorry, my dyke sisters.

Hmmm, I think Marina and Jenny are cool too. I couldn’t figure out where to place them on my list. Mia is such a great actress, and she pulled off playing Jenny so well. Her looks are OK lah, I liked her in the schoolgirl outfit.

I have only seen Season 2 and haven’t seen Season 1, so I know squat about Lara. From what I’ve heard the new girl joining the crew looks kinda decent too.
Jennifer Garner would be on that list if she was in the L Word AND if she didn’t marry Ben Affleck and isn’t pregnant with his kid.

Sadly the miniscule representation of dykes on our local screens are usually embarrassingly bull-dykie gangsterish (re: as seen recently on “Heartlanders” and “Get Real”), and if all the LWord cast were same, we’d rather just tune in to “The Sopranos”.

yeah liek someone commented before i really don’t wanna bed shane. although she’s really hot i still much prefer bedding tina.. who says you can’t do pregnant women? am i sick? hahaha. jenny is totally not attractive at all. too whiny (& her writing sucks, to be honest. hahah). and i always find marina to be too transvetitish. kit’s ex must be quite hot, but her look in the series is extremely scary! to end this comment, i really really want a threesome with dana & alice. hahahaha

hehe… guess i’m a huge minority but i like Jenny… don’t know why but i do… i don’t like the choices that she makes but her struggles are very amazing… not to mention Mia is a very good actress… my list:

Bette’s just way too hot! Love her Type A personality in the show, but I was kinda disappointed that she cheated on Tina. As for Shane..I don’t mind to have a ONS with her..hah!

I think, Rebecca, that Jenny’s writing is actually quite powerful. An avid writer myself, I admire the screenwriter in coming up with those lines. But that’s my opinion.
I have to say, though, that I don’t quite understand why you think Marina is transvestitish. I mean, she is a woman through and through. :)
I like the way the show has grown darker throughout the season, and in expanding Jenny’s past and towards her end, her jewish heritage.
Call me a geriophile, but I was so excited when Gloria Steinem, well-known bisexual feminist in real life, came on screen! Girlpower, all the way!

i cannot organise season 3 get together because i will not be in singapore :(. someone should though points to owner of website. unless people are interested in watching season 1 and/or 2, then i can think of something. they are in uhh avi format ahem.
i thought gloria steinem identifies as heterosexual. she is cool woman and that was a cool if simplified talk at the funeral. i cannot think of another series as politically meaningful and socially relevant YET fun and luscious as this one. how educated i have been. woot.

On Gloria Steinem: I think she identifies as a het, but believes in political lesbianism. I have no beef with political lesbians but I wouldn’t want to date one myself.

yay for season 1 and 2 dvds. i have the extras - fan-made mtvs, interviews, etc. now for a venue.
season 3’s expected release date is next year. february? march? they’re filming it in vancouver as we speak. yes i am that obssessed.

I find Marina to be uber sensuous… and Shane is just very desirable. Oh, but I still liked Alice alot despite her sudden neediness in Season 2, with her exasperated ‘I hate being needy… but I AM!’ realisation. Smart girl, she’s knows it herself but that doesn’t stop her from knowingly acting stupid. Now that I can totally relate to.
Am I the only soul out there who liked Jenny’s Season 2 hair change? Rather vintage, audrey-hepburn-ish methinks.
