Ebaying El Bulli

Well, you have 11 hours and 38 minutes left to bid for a dinner reservation at Ferran Adria’s El Bulli on Ebay. Starting bid: US$1000. Considering that the waiting list to even get a place to eat there is anytime between 6 to 12 months, buying a spot for US$1000 compared to the opportunity cost of US$83 per month, is small change… unless you’re a poor foodie like me.
You know for sure what drives you when you have to be pushed to work on your book by the words ââ¬â “think of those restaurants you can eat at, with that advance”.

i watched the Anthony B show at ElBulli. It wasn’t so much the food that struck; it the amount of ‘research’ that they put in make the dishes different. Now if only I can find:
1. USD 1000 for the auction (assuming no one bids higher)
2. USD 1000 for sing-spain-sing airtickets
3. USD 500 for 3 nights’ hotel
4. (and the most difficult) a permit for leave-of-absence from my wife…

You forget #5, the amount of money that dinner will cost you. The auction price doesn’t include that, only the right to be seated at the restaurant. :)
