    No Lassi in Bhang Lassi

    Schedule
    Today: Udaipur
    Tomorrow morning: Ahmedabad
    Tomorrow night: Mumbai, finally
    Next week: Goa

    Popagandhi at the Railway Station
Me: “I want a ticket, boarding at ADI up to BCT.

    Officer: “Which train and class?”

Me: “Can you check train 2010, CC class.

Officer: “Sorry, it is WL50/WL29 for the 18th and RAC for the 19th.”

Me: “Can you please check under the FT. And give me another ticket for train 0111 boarding CSTM up to MAO please.”

    Z: “???”

Sometimes, just sometimes, I feel like a freak. When I start talking about airlines that way, it’s even worse.

    Octopussy City
Udaipur is spectacular. Lake Pichola is beautiful. A part of me finds it devastating that the two beautiful palace islands on Lake Pichola - the Lake Palace and the Jagmandir - are now, of all things, hotels. Having dinner on a rooftop restaurant, watching Lake Palace light up at night, and Monsoon Palace illuminate at a distance, pretty much made up for the sucky time we had here with our hotel owner and greedy rickshaw men. It’s the most beautiful part of Rajasthan I’ve been to, but also where we’ve been unhappiest with, for assorted reasons. Even tiny Jaisalmer, or boring Jodhpur, made us smile more.

Next stop, Bombay. I have never been this excited by the prospect of finally being able to eat fish, or prawns.

welcome to Mumbai :) yeah travelling on trains around India means you need to be an expert at knowing the 3 letter station codes (BCT is Bombay Central, CSTM - CST Mumbai, MAO - Margao etc etc..) and 4 digit train numbers.. quite a feat, well done!!! ;)

I am not working on Saturday and Sunday (though I have French language classes from 12.30 - 3.30 on both those days - dont ask me why :)) and can meet you.. as I said in a previous comment (or so I think) while I know my way around Mumbai (from Bandra till Colaba), I haven’t seen too much of the city in a touristy way.. am enslaved in a big bad law firm.. :(

err.. MAO appears to be Madgaon.. (kicks himself in the foot) :)
