Hey, it turns out Jet Airways is really not that bad an airline! I flew them for my first time a couple of months back and must say I enjoyed it. Its a “budget airline”, without the budget feel.
Only caveat in my opinion, was the recommended method of having a life-jacket: use your seat!
Was that Jetstar or Jet Airways?
Jet is not by any stretch a budget airline… it’s an indian airline that’s rather expensive. :)
hi,
i am a travel virgin, hope you can help me
I took a look at some of the budget airline sites,
most of em have one-way promos.
which seem better than buying return.
question is, how do u manage, do you book one-way on budget airlines, and upon reaching ur destination, book the flight back to SIN? or do you just take up the return tickets?
advise appreciated and your site is interesting :)
godseNOT
specifically i wanna get from sin to goa, by air, cheapest way possible.
any advise is appreciated
godseNOT
fly jetstar asia to bangalore return then take the train to goa.
Bangalore to Goa, Tues and Sundays
Train 7309 YPR VASCO EXP Bangalore (Yesvantpur) 15:15, Goa (Madgaon) 04:53
or
Train 7311 MAS VASCO EXP Bangalore 21:30 Goa 11:43 (fridays only)
Goa to bangalore: Monday and Saturdays
Train 7310 Goa (Madgaon) 20:50, Bangalore (Yesvantpur) 11:00
2A = Rs 1131
3A = Rs 726
SL = Rs 268
2A is 2nd tier aircon, 3A is third tier aircon, SL is sleeper class (for more info on train classes see this)
Use this site to find out availability and times and fares then book here—query for yesvantpur to madgaon
you can break up your trip by going banglore-hampi then hampi-goa
or the other way
alternatively, fly Air Deccan for Bangalore-Goa-Bangalore for less than S$100 one way.
when’re you going to Goa?
are u going alone to india?
almost did.. but found someone else.
with Z isnt it ? :) love your blog.
thought you might get a kick out of this, if you haven’t already seen it. i know i did!

Number of consecutive successful booking to make Popagandhi turn straight: 6
Look on Popagandhi’s face when the fella actually pulls it off: Priceless.
Un/fortunately, it was not to be. 8D
hi Popagandhi,
gee, you ought to start a biz advising travel virgins on how to lose their travel cherry. you iz good!!
very likely in mid april
with my partner.
now, we r likely gonna take the jetstarasia and then the air deccan route,
and its all thanks to your help
just a query on buget airlines,
why do they advertise one-way travel, i mean dont people wanna get back home from wherever they were gone to?
Gandhi would be proud of you
godseNOT
glad to be of help to you. email me if you need any more help (i just did some Goa research for myself, see, coz i’m going there too. also have some hotel info if you need) you better book now tho, jetstarasia’s cheap promo to india is supposedly ending soon. and the faster you book deccan flights, the cheaper it is. try flying deccan on mondays or tuesdays, usually cheapest flights then.
one way travel: guess it’s an arrangement that works out for some travellers and the budget airlines. instead of paying extra for frills and all that, some travellers have the option of flying out of another city without extra charge or limitations of air ticket dates. this time i’m flying a budget airline into kolkata but coming back from bombay on singapore airlines!
and even though budget airlines are not much cheaper than full fare airlines on some routes, like SIN-BKK, i always fly with them coz the full fare airlines all need you to return within 14 days, and in that 14 days i’m likely to be somewhere else other than bangkok.
johnny: heh. thanks for trying anyway.
When are you visiting Goa?
last leg of my trip before going back to mumbai (or bangalore) to catch a flight home. by all estimates, that’ll be sometime like 8th May or 15th May (not exactly the best time to visit, but my partner insists). or something like it, depending on where we’ll be before that. (we’re coming from west bengal into the hills then uttar pradesh and rajasthan.. which also all depends then on which trains we manage to get on, which also all depends on.. sigh.)
travelling is such a hassle, but when it’s good, it’s real good.
:) INteresting one this! How about the rail tickets from Kolkata? Lemme know…
Nice, if you need to info(travel stuff) I could help..
