Bangkok Rock
7 Jan
This is old news, though I only decided to post it when its website was finally complete — Bangkok 100 Rock Fest happens on “18 and 19 Feb”:http://www.bkk100rock.com/main.html. I’m mighty amazed that Oasis, Franz Ferdinand and the likes are coming by this part of our world, like all of you. It really should be called Bangkok British Rock Fest, looking at the lineup. I never thought I’d say this but I think by this time the only British music that excites me are the likes of Dizzee Rascal, Kano and The Streets.. British rock? What a yawn.
I’m going to be “up north in the mountains”:http://www.chiangdao.com/ that same weekend so it’s a pity (I’d like to see Ian Brown — I feel acutely a certain generational gap when it comes to music, because I’m that much of an _ah pek_). If you’re thinking of going to the fest in Bangkok, this is time to kick yourself for not buying the $9.98 air tickets, unlike us old folks who plan ahead and buy air tickets 3 months in advance (Z: “But it’s only November!” Me:” Yeah but it’s only $9.98! It’s erm, Valentine’s Day? Our anniversary? Book tonight!”). You know you’re getting older when you plan holidays so many months in advance, and “go to places”:http://chiangdao.com/ where you can “be one with nature”, like your parents would; birding and floral and fauna and all that old people stuff.
Though I think the original plans to go mountain biking in the mountains.. have been put aside, in light of recent events. Perhasp in favour of white water rafting or mountain climbing, now that my “one accident for the year” has been done with?
The Teochews have a saying, “Um zai si”. That’s precisely it.
